Approved finishes list
Keep the list of fittings finishes your company sells, so quotes are flagged when a line uses a finish that is not on it.
Screens may differ slightly from what you see.
What it is for
The Approved finishes page holds the finishes your company sells. The page says quotes are flagged when a line uses a finish that is not on this list, when a finish changeover is left half done, and when a finish changes after the customer accepted.
The flag is only a warning. The panel says a line with an unapproved finish is flagged on the quote, "never blocked or changed". It covers taps, valves, wastes, rails, trims, panels and radiators. It does not check tiles, grout, trays or furniture colours.
Who can use it
- Seeing the list: anyone signed in.
- Adding, editing, deleting and the on/off switch: people with the right Approved Finishes Manage. If you do not have it, the page says "You can see this list but not change it."
- Checking quotes: only happens when the company switch on this page is On. The server keeps that switch off until someone switches it on.
How to use it
Switch checking on or off
- Open Approved finishes from the menu.
- Look at the line "Checking quotes against this list:". It reads On or Off.
- Press Switch on or Switch off.
- The page shows "Switched on. Quotes are now checked against this list." or "Switched off. Quotes are no longer checked."
You can build the list while the switch is off, then switch it on when the list is ready.
Add a finish
- Under Add a finish, type the finish in the first box. The prompt gives "Gunmetal" as an example.
- In Also written as, type other spellings, separated by commas. The prompt gives "Gun Metal" as an example.
- Press Add. The page shows "Added."
Names are matched ignoring capital letters and spacing. If the finish or one of its aliases is already on the list you see "That finish (or one of its aliases) is already on the list."
Edit or delete a finish
- In the table (columns Finish, Also written as, Added by), press Edit on the row.
- Change the name or the aliases and press Save, or Cancel.
- To remove a finish, press Delete. The button then reads Confirm delete. Press it again to remove the finish.
Tips
- Add the usual spelling variants as aliases, so a quote line that says "Gun Metal" is treated as Gunmetal.
- If the list is empty nothing is flagged. The page says "The list is empty, so nothing is flagged yet. Add the finishes you sell."
- Add the finishes first, then switch checking on.
Things to know
- The flag appears on the quote, not on this page. See Work with a quote.
- Other roles can accept a finish changeover on a quote. That uses a separate right and is not part of this page.
- A platform-level setting must also be on for the switch to work.

Common questions
Does an unapproved finish block a quote?
No. The panel says a line with an unapproved finish is flagged on the quote, never blocked or changed. It covers taps, valves, wastes, rails, trims, panels and radiators, but not tiles, grout, trays or furniture colours.
Is the finishes check on by default?
No. Quotes are only checked when the company switch on the page is On, and the server keeps that switch off until someone switches it on. You can build the list while it is off.
