Brands and supplier pricing
Create brands, set a brand logo, and record which suppliers carry each brand with their discount, lead time and stock position.
Screens may differ slightly from what you see.
What it is for
A brand (for example Carron) can be sold to you by more than one supplier, each on different terms. The Brands page lets you compare those suppliers side by side and keep the terms up to date.
Who can use it
The page is listed in the navigation for roles with the supplier-management permission.
How to use it
Compare suppliers for a brand
- Open Brand Management (Brands in the navigation).
- Use Search brands... in the All Brands list, then click a brand.
- On the Price Comparison tab, read the table: Supplier, Discount, Lead Time and Stock.
- If any supplier has a discount, a green line shows the best discount and who offers it.
If no supplier carries the brand, the page says "No suppliers carry this brand".
Add a brand
- Click Add Brand.
- Enter Brand Name (required). Optionally add the Website and a Description.
- Leave Active (brand available for selection) ticked unless the brand is retired.
- Click Create Brand.
Set a brand logo
The logo shows at the top left of the navigation.
- Save the brand first. Upload image is disabled until the brand exists.
- Edit the brand (the pencil icon, "Edit brand") and click Upload image, or paste an address into "…or paste an image URL".
- A preview on a dark panel shows how it will look. The form recommends about 240 by 80 pixels, a PNG with a transparent background, PNG, JPG, SVG or WEBP, maximum 2 MB.
- Click Remove to clear it, then Save Changes.
Link a supplier to a brand
- Select the brand and open the Manage Suppliers tab.
- Click Add Supplier (or Add Your First Supplier).
- Choose the Supplier. Optionally enter Discount %, Stock Availability (Not set, In Stock, Made to Order or Out of Stock), Lead Time Min (days), Lead Time Max (days) and notes.
- Click Add Supplier.
To change terms later, use the pencil icon ("Edit pricing") on that supplier, then Save Changes. The bin icon ("Remove supplier") asks you to confirm and removes the link.
Delete a brand
Click the bin icon ("Delete brand"). The page asks you to confirm. It makes the brand inactive and keeps the history. It does not erase it.
Tips
- Give a single lead time as the same number in Min and Max. The page then shows "7 days" rather than a range.
- Add Supplier only lists suppliers that are not already linked to the brand.
Things to know
- Discounts and lead times are information for comparison. The page does not say that they change any quote price.
- Inactive brands show an Inactive label in the list.
